Ordering & Products

Each painting is carefully rolled (paint side out) and shipped inside a custom-cut 2-inch PVC tube. PVC tubes are waterproof, crush-resistant, and protect the canvas throughout international transit. The tube length is cut to match your specific painting — see our Delivery & Care page for the full tube size reference and unpacking instructions.

Every painting on Your African Art is an original, hand-painted work created by artists across Africa. No prints, no reproductions, no mass-produced copies. Each piece is one of a kind.

Sizes vary by painting and are listed on each product page. Most pieces range from 40 × 60 cm to 90 × 120 cm. If you need a specific size or have a custom request, reach out via the contact page.

Absolutely. We work with talented artists who can create custom pieces based on your preferences — style, colour palette, size, and subject matter. Get in touch via our contact form and we'll connect you with the right artist.

No, paintings are shipped as unframed canvas rolled inside a PVC tube. This keeps shipping safer and more affordable. You can stretch and frame it yourself (we have a step-by-step guide) or take it to any local framing shop — typically $20–$60 depending on size.

Most of our paintings are created using acrylic or oil paints on cotton or linen canvas. The specific medium is noted on each product page. All materials are professional grade and built to last.

We provide high-resolution photos of every painting on the site. You can also visit our Experience page to see how each piece looks staged in a real room. If you'd like additional photos or a video of a specific painting, just ask and we'll send them over.

All photos on our website are optimised for web viewing — this includes removing any creases or folds that may appear from shipping or storage. Other than that, every photo is exactly as the artist painted it. We do not alter colours, add filters, or digitally enhance the artwork in any way. What you see is a faithful representation of the original piece.

We accept secure online payments through PayPal for international orders and Paystack for local NGN checkout where available. All transactions are handled by established payment providers.

Yes. Payment details are processed by secure third-party checkout providers. Your financial information is never stored on our servers.

Yes. At checkout you can add an optional painting authentication certificate per painting. Nigeria checkout shows the certificate fee in Naira only; international checkout shows the local currency equivalent of $20. We arrange certificate review through either the Nigerian National Museum, Onikan, Lagos, or Nike Art Gallery, Lekki, Lagos. Certificate requests can add a little time before dispatch because the painting must be reviewed before it ships.

The Nigerian National Museum in Onikan is part of Nigeria's National Commission for Museums and Monuments, the federal body responsible for preserving and presenting Nigeria's cultural heritage. Nike Art Gallery in Lekki is one of Lagos's best-known art institutions, connected to Nike Art Foundation and its long-running work with Nigerian and African artists, workshops, and galleries.

Shipping & Delivery

We ship worldwide. Our primary markets are the UK, US, Canada, and across Europe, but we deliver anywhere with a postal address.

International delivery typically takes 7–14 business days depending on your location. Lagos and Abuja delivery is arranged locally after payment. You'll receive tracking or delivery coordination details once your order ships.

International shipping is calculated by delivery country, tube size, and DHL-style chargeable weight. Each painting is rolled into a 2-inch PVC tube; the checkout estimates the tube package from the painting dimensions, handling margin, and shipment weight, then shows the total in your selected country's currency. PayPal will show the final conversion before you pay. Local delivery within Lagos or Abuja is NGN 10,000. Other delivery locations can be quoted before payment.

We periodically offer free shipping promotions. Follow us on Instagram or sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know about deals.

Yes. Once your order is dispatched, you'll receive an email with your tracking number and a link to track your package in real time.

If your painting arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos of the damage. We'll arrange a replacement or full refund — no hassle.

Import duties and taxes vary by country and are the responsibility of the buyer. Original artworks may qualify for duty exemptions in some countries. Check with your local customs office for specifics.

Returns & Exchanges

If your painting arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos for a replacement or full refund. As each piece is an original artwork, we do not accept returns for change of mind. We're always happy to help you find the right piece before you buy.

Because every painting is a unique original, exchanges are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us and we'll do our best to find a solution that works for you.

We photograph all paintings in natural light and keep editing to a minimum so what you see is as close as possible to the real piece. Slight variations can occur due to screen settings. If you'd like additional photos or a video in different lighting, just ask before purchasing.

Caring for Your Art

Keep your painting away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid touching the painted surface directly. If stretched and framed, hang on a secure wall hook away from heat sources and moisture.

Take your canvas to any local framing shop to have it stretched onto wooden stretcher bars (typically $20–$60). You can also do it yourself — we have a full step-by-step DIY stretching guide on our Delivery & Care page, covering gallery wraps, pin mounting, and other creative display options.

Remove the end caps from the PVC tube carefully (avoid using sharp blades near the opening). Slide the canvas out gently and lay it flat, paint side up, on a clean surface. Place soft weights on the corners and let it relax for 24–48 hours. Any minor curl will flatten naturally. Never iron or apply direct heat to the painted surface. For detailed step-by-step instructions, see our Delivery & Care page.
